The POWER2DM (Predictive model-based decision support for diabetes patient empowerment) project proposal for Horizon 2020 was awarded the highest score among 184 submitted proposals and started on the 1st of March 2016 (EU grant is 5M Euro; ref. H2020-PHC-689444). This 4 year project involves the research and medical partners TNO (coordinator), IDK, SRDC, LUMC, SAS, and Salzburg Research, and SME’s Primedata and iHealth.

POWER2DM will reinforce the prevention sector in healthcare by raising the acceptance of self-management support system based on decision support system that use predictive models fed by data from personal devices. POWER2DM will challenge individuals towards more frequent and long-term use of personal devices for self-monitoring, boosting the development of these devices. POWER2DM will thereby make an essential step forward in empowering the patient, advancing prevention and decreasing disease burden and costs.
